1656 - Kateri Tekakwitha is born at Ossernenon, now Auriesville, New York
1660 - Kateri's parents and infant brother die during the smallpx epidemic. Kateri is adopted by her aunts and uncle.
1667 - Three French Jesuits visit her uncle's village for three days - it is Kater's first contact with missionaries.
1676 - Kateri is baptized by Father James de Lamberville on Easter Sunday.
1677 - Kateri flees to the "Praying Castle" of Caughnawaga, a mission village near Montreal, there she makes her
First Communion on Christmas Day.
1678 - Kateri is admitted to the Holy Family Sodality.
1679 - Kateri makes a vow of perpetual virginity on March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation.
1680 - Kateri dies on Easter of Holy Week, April 17; later that year she appears to her spiritual advisor, her adopted mother and a close friend.
1682 - The first known Kateri novena leads to a woman's cure.
1884 - The Third Plenary Council of Baltimore petitions Rome to begin the process of beatification for Kateri Tekakwitha.
1931 - The Cause for Kateri's beatification is instituted by the Bishop of Albany, Edmund F. Gibbons. The process is finished the following year.
1932 - Public veneration, as opposed to previous private devotion, begins.
1938 - The Historical Section of the Congregation of Sacred Rites approves as documents relating to Kateri are
genuine and trustworthy and that her virtues were heroic.
1939 - The Cause for her canonization is accepted by the Congregation of Rites in Rome.
1943 - Pope Pius XII declares Kateri to be venerable.
1980 - Kateri is beatified by Pope John Paul II
2002 - Kateri is patroness of World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada.
